“We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Zahiya. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa below.
Lisa, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I put courage before confidence. I have had, and do have a lot of self doubt that, at times, can spiral into negative self talk. However, in my life, I choose to put courage before confidence and did things, over and over, that I was terrified of. The secret is that doing things scared is what made me confident.”

“Self-made millionaire Lisa Zahiya is the CEO and founder of a business strategy firm. Zahiya said books have always made her money. She still relies on basic principles learned in books about investing both in good times and economic downturns. One piece of advice is knowing that money is on sale when the market is down, so Zahiya said she buys heavy.”
“Some of Zahiya’s book recommendations are also written by recognized financial experts. Her favorite investing books include “Unshakeable” by Tony Robbins and “I Will Teach You To Be Rich” by Ramit Sethi.”

In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.
Today, attendees gather in cities around the world and online via Virtual FieldTrips to enjoy creative connections, inspiring community, and generous opportunities. Volunteer hosts and their team members organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals. The growing archive of past breakfast talks is humbling. From design legends to hometown heroes, speakers are selected by each chapter based on a global theme.
Let's talk about money. Why do you think it's such a taboo topic? Why are people so uncomfortable talking about it?
In this fantastic interview, Lisa Zahiya shared her experience growing several 7-figure businesses. And money mindset played a huge role in it.

A special interview with my fellow instructors at the 2014 Las Vegas Belly Dance Intensive.
An incredibly versatile and strong dancer, Lisa travels nationally to perform and teach traditional and contemporary belly dance ( incorporating many different styles!) as well as Bollywood, Bhangara, and hip hop. Based in Asheville, she also owns Studio Zahiya, and is on the faculty at the University Of North Carolina, where she teaches-you guessed it- dance.
I first met her at Onca O'Leary's ABSFEST 2007, and the next year was sitting on the judging panel at Belly Dance Of The Universe when she won the fusion competition, with a hawt Fosse-inspired number. Since then, she's won many more competitions and is getting lots of recognition for her fabulous work.
Lisa is an innovative, award-winning performer, in-demand instructor and successful hip-studio owner. Working in the genres of bellydance, Indian dance (Bollywood & Bhangra) andhop dance, Lisa travels nationally and internationally teaching and performing.
Lisa is a alumni of the University of Maryland Dance Team and has a background in musical theater, jazz and hip hop. In 2008, her strong powerful style earned her the title “2008 Tribal Fusion Bellydancer of the Universe” and she went on to win the Alternative Category at the Wiggles of the West bellydance competition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
When I was getting a divorce in my late 20s, there was one friend, Rebecca, who always checked in on me.
I am someone who will almost always answer with “fine” or “good” when you ask me how I am, and she always saw through that and made sure I was actually okay. We later became roommates, and she was a solace to me as I started my life over.
With a reputation for generating eating disorders and bad self esteem, dance is often the last thing we consider for ourselves when looking for empowerment. Maybe we dance in the shower, or around our room when we’re getting dressed in the morning. Perhaps we dance in the car when no one is looking and secretly fantasize of being those long, lean ballerina types that grace the stage with ease and draw eyes to their every move. Or perhaps we’ve never danced at all.
With all of our many interactions and reactions to the world of dance, its empowering capabilities are often overlooked. This strength derived from movement is something that Asheville dance studio owner Lisa Zahiya has been singing from the mountaintops for years.
Whether you are a Love Shine Play veteran or are joining us for the first time, we hope the following information will answer many questions and ensure your weekend experience is smooth and easy.
